Moderated by: Bill Melchionni, Vice President & Co-Head U.S. State Government Affairs, American International Group, Inc.

Tuesday | December 1
10:00 – 10:45 a.m.
Online Virtual Meeting

Join us on Tuesday, December 1 at 10:00 a.m. (ET) for a virtual meeting with Senate Insurance Committee Chair Neil Breslin. As we close on what has been an unpredictable year, it is important that we engage with key public policymakers moving into 2021. This will be a prime opportunity to gain insights from Senator Breslin on top priorities and forecasted areas of focus for the Legislature. There will also be a chance to ask any questions about topics of importance to your company. We encourage members to register for this complimentary event to hear what may be on the horizon for next year. Assembly Insurance Committee Chair Kevin Cahill was originally slated to participate in this event, but now needs to attend the Assembly Majority Conference that has since been scheduled on this date. We are going to take this opportunity to focus on the Senate at the December 1 Town Hall Meeting, particularly given the recent developments with the elections, and look forward to hearing Senator Breslin’s perspective. We are planning to hold another event after the new year so NYIA members also have an opportunity to hear from Assemblymember Cahill.

Regional Roundtable

KNOW BETTER NEW YORK CONNECTIONS

Regional Roundtable
Moderated by: Edward Harper, President and CEO, Statewide Underwriting Services

Tuesday | October 20, 2020
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (ET)
Virtual Program

This event was made possible with the support of Erie and Niagara Insurance Association.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

New York is a unique marketplace. The distinct traits of the state’s market make it that much more important that we work as an industry and foster strong relationships as colleagues. Property and casualty insurance companies share many common challenges, but there are particular similarities for regional companies that focus on New York or a select number of states. Learning from each other as industry partners is one our greatest tools. If you enjoy the Small Company Roundtable each year at NYIA’s Annual Conference, then you will not want to miss this virtual roundtable discussion. It will be an excellent opportunity to talk about the vast array of issues companies are facing. We have topics we are ready to address, but first on the agenda are always the items you would like to bring to the conversation. Please send the top three issues on your mind to Kaitlyn Emory at kemory@nyia.org so we can include them in the agenda.

MEET OUR MODERATOR

Edward Harper is president and CEO of Statewide Underwriting Services, which includes Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company, Claverack Cooperative Insurance Company, Midrox Insurance Company and Statewide Underwriters Agency, Inc. Harper joined Mid-Hudson Co-Operative in 2012, oversaw the affiliation of Claverack Cooperative in 2015 and the creation of Statewide Underwriting Services in 2018.

Prior to his current position, he was a risk analyst for Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC and served on a team that serviced small mutual insurance companies throughout the United States. Harper holds the Associate in Reinsurance designation. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Le Moyne College and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University at Albany.
