MEET OUR INDUSTRY EXPERT

Dave Ingram, head of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) analytics team at Willis Re North America based in New York, offers insurers practical ways to use ERM to identify specific actions and strategies that will enhance the risk-adjusted value of the firm.

With more than 30 years of actuarial and general management experience in the insurance industry, Ingram has served as corporate actuary, business unit head and planning officer for a major U.S. insurance company. He was also the senior director of ERM in the Insurance Ratings Group of Standard and Poor’s (S&P). In that position, he spearheaded their initiative to incorporate ERM as one of the primary insurance ratings criteria and the development of the framework for reviewing economic capital models. As a consulting actuary at Milliman, Ingram provided advice on risk management and risk analysis to insurers banks and investors.

In 2012, Ingram was named one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in Finance” globally by Treasury & Risk magazine. In addition to authoring a large number of published articles relating to ERM, Dave has spoken on ERM at over 100 events in North America, Asia, Europe, Australia, and South America. He has served as the first chair of the Joint SOA/CAS/CIA Risk Management Section. He is a past chair of the International Actuarial Association’s Enterprise and Financial Risks Committee and is currently chair of the Actuarial Standards Board ERM Committee.

Ingram is a graduate of Lehigh University and has an Enterprise Risk Analyst Charter from the SOA, Financial Risk Manager certification from the GARP and Professional Risk Manager certification from the Professional Risk Managers International Association.

Truman Esmond is vice president of solutions and partnerships at American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS). Truman is responsible for integrating AAIS’s traditional advisory offerings and infrastructure with advanced insurance technologies to support online product delivery. He also leads the AAIS Stride Team, which works closely with carriers and AAIS’s network of Associate and Alliance partners to develop customized programs for member insurance carriers. Before joining AAIS, Truman was managing director and director of quality and continuous improvement at Red Door Interactive that specialized in marketing communications campaigns and solutions across digital and traditional media. Red Door had previously acquired Breckenridge Communications, an applications development company Truman founded and led for 12 years.
