New York Insurance Association Unveils Thank Goodness for Insurance Campaign

ALBANY, N.Y., Nov. 9, 2017—The New York Insurance Association, Inc. (NYIA) unveils Thank Goodness for Insurance or TGFI, a campaign to educate consumers about insurance. TGFI is multifaceted and will be rolled out over the coming months. It will include information about auto insurance, homeowners insurance, business insurance and renters insurance as well as offer helpful insights on trending topics.

To mark the unveiling of the campaign, NYIA has released Better Together, a publication that illustrates the giving nature of the property and casualty insurance industry. The publication specifically highlights a number of different volunteer projects and overarching philanthropic efforts by insurance companies across New York State.

“Insurance companies are committed to providing financial security to their policyholders, but also take great pride in being highly engaged in the communities they serve,” Ellen Melchionni, NYIA president said. “We look forward to this opportunity to educate people through TGFI about insurance so drivers, homeowners, business owners and renters can consider the role insurance plays in their life and make more informed decisions.”

To further dive in to Better Together, visit TGFI on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

NEW YORK INSURANCE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION
SELECTS LECONTE AS 2017–2018 RECIPIENT

ALBANY, N.Y., August 9, 2017—The New York Insurance Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (NYISF) awarded its 2017–2018 scholarship to Jean Emile Leconte II, a senior at St. John’s University studying risk management and insurance from Queens, N.Y.

“The New York Insurance Scholarship Foundation is pleased to recognize a student as accomplished as Jean,” Ellen Melchionni, president of NYISF said. “His accomplishments, both academically and professionally, are quite admirable. Jean will undoubtedly make tremendous contributions to the insurance industry.”

NYISF was founded to encourage scholastic achievement, community involvement and a commitment to advancing the insurance industry. “Jean embodies all of these qualities,” Melchionni said. “He carries a commendable grade point average, is devoted to giving back to the community, including as an instructor in an after-school program for underprivileged students, and is keenly interested in using his real-world experience to further the contributions of insurance to society.”

The development of future leaders is essential to ensure the viability of the insurance and risk management industry. NYISF addresses the great need to attract young professionals. “Insurance and the needs of consumers grow increasingly more complex,” Melchionni said. “The cultivation of new talented leaders is critical to the future of the industry.”
