David McHale
Chief Legal and Human Resources Officer
The Doctors Company

David McHale is the Chief Legal and Human Resources Officer for The Doctors Company, the nation’s largest writer of medical malpractice insurance located in Napa, California.  In addition to acting as the company’s Chief Legal and Human Resources Officer, he also oversees the company’s regulatory compliance, government relations and administrative services departments.

Prior to joining The Doctors Company, Dave was Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, responsible for that organization’s state regulatory compliance, claims legal and government relations functions.  Prior to joining Nationwide, Dave spent 13 years with Allstate Insurance Company, where he held a variety of positions within its legal department.

Dave received his undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco, his law degree from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific, and his Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of Illinois.
