Albany Update Session Snapshot

The regularly scheduled legislative session has concluded with the Assembly gaveling out this evening. The Senate previously adjourned in the early morning. Linked here is NYIA's Session Snapshot report, which provides the status of many key pieces of legislation for the property and casualty insurance industry that have progressed this year.

The bills that passed both houses, which the Governor will now need to consider this year, are on the second page of the attached as an entire list and at the beginning of each section by category. NYIA will be weighing in accordingly with the Governor as we continue to advocate on these pieces of legislation.

We are pleased to report a number of wins for our industry, including auto insurance tort reform and fraud prevention. Critically, we were also able to prevent a number of bills from advancing that would be incredibly detrimental to our industry and policyholders.

We will keep members apprised as we continue our work post session and look to create the best outcomes for the property and casualty insurance market.
