2026 Motor Vehicle Insurance Reforms

DFS issued Insurance Circular Letter No. 3 last week in conjunction with a media release issued by the Governor. DFS will be hosting a webinar on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 2:00–3:00 p.m. regarding the motor vehicle insurance reforms more broadly. Registration for the webinar is available on DFS’s website. DFS will be accepting questions ahead of the webinar to autoreform@dfs.ny.gov until Friday, July 10. If you would like NYIA to submit questions on your behalf, please contact Staci at ssteinfeld@nyia.org by noon on July 10 as we will be submitting questions in the early afternoon. 

Premium Change Notifications

DFS has posted modified frequently asked questions on their website regarding premium change explanations related to Insurance Law 2356. Specifically, updating the first question and adding two additional questions at the end. Please note that NYIA has shared additional questions beyond those included in the FAQ and will keep members informed as we receive additional responses.
