Marc Gyimesi, Senior Search Consultant,  The Carlisle Group

Marc Gyimesi, CSAM, is a senior consultant with The Carlisle Group – an executive search and consulting firm based in Pennsylvania. Since starting in 2004 Gyimesi has been responsible for placing over 700 candidates within the clients he has represented.

Gyimesi has been consistently ranked as one of the premier executive recruiters in the insurance space. He has handled consulting engagements with mutual insurance companies, publicly traded companies, and privately held organizations on topics such as succession planning, compensation analysis, employee engagement, organizational development, and position profile creation.

Gyimesi has been featured as the guest speaker for numerous regional insurance trade groups, A.M. Best, Demotech, and has been an integral contributor at several president/CEO & human resource executive roundtables. He speaks on topics ranging from the labor market, current economic climate, board governance, and succession planning to using technology in order to attract talent.

 

Jim Morris, Senior Manager, Consulting Practice, Baker Tilly

Jim Morris is a senior manager with Baker Tilly and serves in the firm’s insurance regulatory and risk, internal audit and consulting practices. His recent assignments have included assisting state insurance departments by serving as examiner in charge on risk focused and targeted examinations, providing investment and reinsurance specialist services, performing Level 1 and 2 financial analysis procedures, and review of Form D filings. In addition, Morris also provides assistance to insurer clients with operational control and efficiency evaluations, ERM assessments, ORSA reporting, MAR compliance, and outsourced internal audit activities.

Morris has more than 35 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including more than 20 within the insurance industry. His insurance company experience includes roles related to risk identification, assessment, and mitigation; internal control identification, assessment, design, implementation, and remediation; operations workflow analysis and design; and audit positions. He also served as examination liaison between insurance companies and state insurance regulators.

Morris earned a master of business administration with a concentration in finance from Loyola University Maryland. He holds a bachelor of science in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Drexel University.

He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Financial Examiner, Chartered Global Management Accountant, and Certified Internal Control Auditor. He is active in the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association at both the national and chapter level, and in the Society of Financial Examiners where he serves as a member of the annual Career Development Seminar planning and programming committees.

 

William Piel, CFA, Vice President, Co-Head of Portfolio Management, Opus Investment Management, Inc.

William Piel joined Opus Investment Management in 2007 as an assistant portfolio manager and currently holds the position of vice president, co-head of portfolio management. In this capacity, he provides oversight of Opus’ client portfolios as well as Opus’ sales and marketing efforts. Piel’s portfolio management responsibilities include the Investment Grade Core, Intermediate Broad Market, and Short Broad Market strategies. He has experience partnering with a variety of account types, including insurance companies and pension funds.

Prior to joining Opus, Piel was employed with Genworth Financial as an asset liability analyst within their Institutional Markets Group where he was focused on identifying risk mismatches in their portfolio.
